Binge Computing ? Public Enemy #1

We have become a society that spends a great majority of our time sitting down in front of computers. Many of our jobs require us to use computers for 8+ hours a day and sometimes you may not leave the computer for hours on end.

Humans were not designed to sit around all day with minimal movement, yet this is the type of life that most of us live and it can take its toll on our bodies.

The risks of this type of lifestyle are many, especially if you do not pursue some kind of activity either at work or at home. Some of the major risks include:

  • Weight Gain - A lifestyle that requires little more than short strolls to the meetings, copy machine or coffee, combined with increased eating, can pack on the pounds very quickly.

  • Loss of Muscle Tissue and Flexibility - Another risk from sitting all day and not getting much activity is deterioration of muscles and loss of flexibility. Muscles get short and tight (particularly those of the back, hip, shoulders, chest and hamstrings) when we sit at our desks all day.

  • Back Pain - Prolonged sitting is also a risk factor for herniated disks. Movement is the only way that your disks and the spaces surrounding them can get the nourishment and blood flow that they need in order to stay supple, strong and flexible.

  • Reduced Bone Density - After the age of 30 most individuals experience some kind of bone loss, but this process can be accelerated by sitting around all day and not stressing your bone structures. Exercise helps greatly in slowing down the rate of bone loss that happens naturally.

Just because you spend most of your time at a desk doesn't mean you're guaranteed to become soft. However, you're going to have to make an effort to get in shape during your free time to help counteract the effects of the non-active work day.

That means burning calories through walking, jogging, biking, aerobics or other physical activity to help maintain weight and keep yourself in good cardiovascular health. And you'll need to strength train to keep muscles in shape.

Tips to Keep Moving

  • Keep in mind that all exercise adds up. Small changes in your habits, such as taking the stairs instead of the elevator or delivering by hand a memo to a colleague down the hall instead of e-mailing it, can equal significant benefits and calorie burn over the long term.

  • Aim to sit no longer than 50 minutes at a time. Take a few minutes to get up and get your body moving through a short walk or some other kind of movement.

  • Stretching is a good idea because muscles get short and tight (particularly those of the neck, wrist, back, hip, shoulders, chest and the hamstrings) when we sit hunched over at our desks for long periods.

  • Get the blood flowing through your back by taking short exercise and stretch breaks to alleviate pressure on the disks and nourish them.

  • Even something as small as a brisk 15-20 minute walk during your lunch break can help maintain your body and muscles. It will also help relieve stress.

By making some small changes to your daily routine you can prevent weight gain, have more energy during your work day and will be more productive.

What does it mean if you have primary pulmonary hypertension? I have heard all of those words on their own, but certainly upon first glance didn?t know what they meant together. With a little reading, though, I understood what primary pulmonary hypertension was. Pulmonary hypertension is actually a disorder where your blood pressure in the arteries is higher than it should be, it is primary if there are no other disorders present. This can cause a number of health issues.

For one thing, in severe cases of primary pulmonary hypertension, the right side of the heart ends up working harder than usual to pump your blood against the high blood pressure in your arteries. After long periods of this, the right side of your heart becomes enlarged which causes it to function poorly. Fluid will begin to collect in your ankles and belly and then, eventually, the left side of your heart will begin to fail. If your heart fails as a result of primary pulmonary hypertension it is called cor pulmonale.

Heart failure as a result of pulmonary hypertension is caused by varying combinations of a number of disorders like emphysema, fibrosis, or chronic bronchitis. However, if you get pulmonary hypertension without any of these other disorders it is called primary pulmonary hypertension. It is more commonly found in men than it is in women, but its cause is not known at this time.

When the pulmonary hypertension comes as a result of the other disorders, it is called secondary pulmonary hypertension. It is more common than primary pulmonary hypertension. Secondary may be a result of pulmonary thromboembolism, COPD, or congenital heart disease. Since any of these can cause that rise in blood pressure that results in the symptoms discussed above.

Obviously if you find that you have either primary pulmonary hypertension or secondary pulmonary hypertension you are already under a doctor?s care. He or she may try oxygen therapy that will help to improve alveolar oxygen flow. You may also be asked by your physician to avoid vigorous exercise and to go through chest physiotherapy. The treatment for either type of pulmonary hypertension is basically the same. What is most important, though, is that you follow the advice of your physician closely as primary pulmonary hypertension can be very serious as can anything relating to the health of your heart.

Whether you find that you have primary pulmonary hypertension or secondary pulmonary hypertension you may find that you are a little upset or nervous. You have good reason because they are very serious disorders. However, if you listen to your doctor, take care of yourself, and keep a positive mindset you may find that you can overcome the problem. Heart conditions of any sort are obviously something to take seriously, so if you have any questions or concerns about primary pulmonary hypertension you should consult your physician and make sure you completely understand what is happening and what you should be doing to help yourself.

Scientists at NASA theorize that some 3 1/2 billion years ago, the world was changed forever. The appearance of tiny organisms with the ability to convert sunlight, warmth, water and minerals into protein (amino acids), carbohydrates and fats marked the beginning of life.

Phytoplankton are single-celled plants that are the basis of all other life forms on planet Earth, as they are the vegetation of the ocean. Phytoplankton are responsible for making up to 90% of the Earth's oxygen. Phytoplankton is the food utilized by the world's largest and longest living mammals and fish. Whales eat plankton and live between 80-150 years old and maintain great strength and endurance throughout their lives.

The question is asked, Why should I eat whale food? The elements and electrolytes in plankton are also extremely beneficial for humans. Scientists report that the composition of human plasma is similar to that of seawater. Our bodies contain about 70% water. Our planet contains about 70% water. Yet, we have been trying to get all of our nutrients from the 30% land mass, which has lead us to deficiencies in micronutrients and trace elements. Our bodies need these elements from the ocean to perform as nature intended.

If we are missing any of these key elements, our human bodies can't function optimally. They lose their inherent homeostatic mechanisms, and disease creeps in.

Benefits of Phytoplankton in the Human Body

Phytoplankton contains super concentrated lipids (fats) to enhance brain function, cardiovascular function and to provide a healthy cell wall. It is clinically shown to reduce cholesterol and stabilize blood sugar levels. It helps increase mental alertness. Phytoplankton relieves pain and inflammation, both inside and outside the body. In fact, we know how quickly phytoplankton nourishes the entire body because external problems such as dandruff, eczema, psoriasis and dermatitis are so quickly healed. Since all external skin conditions are caused by internal toxicity, we know how deeply phytoplankton nourishes and cleanses on a cellular level.

One very exciting property of plankton is its ability to help the eyes, and is shown to be more effective than Lutein. Another component in the product is Astaxanthin, which also is very beneficial for the eyes. There is research on the many Internet sites of people being helped with Macular Degeneration from Astaxanthin.

To restore health we need to detoxify and then rebuild. This whole food product does both, simultaneously! Phytoplankton supports a healthy liver, the largest internal organ of the body. When our liver is detoxified and strengthened we naturally have a good night's sleep and we also have increased energy during our daytime activities!

Doctors usually focus on recommending supplements to people with the intention of assisting the body to obtain the necessary nutrients so that the body could heal itself. But studies now see that instead of supplements, we can get our nutrition from complete whole food products, and that is just what this product is. If it can give all the nutrition a large ocean-living mammal needs for its entire life, it can give that to us humans because we are mammals too!

The Ingredients in this amazing product are

Marine Phytoplankton - Making History for Mankindclick here

An Integrative Medicine clinic in the Dallas area where a world famous doctor has a remarkable story of his own in regards to phytoplankton. He received his M.D., and then went on to be an ophthalmologist, pioneering some of the outpatient surgery and equipment for the lasix eye surgery. He didn't realize that his surgical mask would not protect him from infections from his patients. So, he got viral encephalitis from one of his patients, and spent 7 years in bed until he was able to heal himself. Afterwards, he began a new way of working as a physician using only natural remedies. He now promotes phytoplankton to every one of his patients.

The 4 Most Important Neurochemicals:

1) Dopamine - when deficient, the person can be addictive, obese, and have fatigue. The person is a loner and a procrastinator. Examples are Parkinson's and ADD.

2) Acetylcholine - when deficient, there are problems with language, memory loss and cognitive disorders. The person can be an eccentric perfectionist and is careless. Alzheimer's is an example.

3) GABA - when deficient it can lead to headaches, high blood pressure, heart palpations, seizures and low sex drive. This person can be an unstable drama queen. They can't pay attention and are impulsive.

4) Serotonin - when deficient, the person can have depression; have hormonal imbalances, sleep and eating disorders. The person can be self absorbed, and they can't easily grasp concepts

Why do you become deficient in neurochemicals? You are using the basic raw building materials in the body faster than you can make them. Everyone who has a chronic disease is depleted in neurochemicals. This is overlooked in most traditional medical practices. Restoring neurochemicals and minerals is like getting the steering wheel, accelerator and brake pedal working and back on the car.

To make neurochemicals we need one building block of amino acid and then 8 accessories (vitamins and minerals) to make it work. The majority of the products out there - the supplements - don't have these accessories in it. Therefore, the people aren't gaining benefit from them.

Why does Phytoplankton work so well? Because it is a complete food, it has everything you need to make neurochemicals and have correct mineral levels. Because of its microscopic size it can get into the system easily. It takes 3 months to get patients normal again, but you can begin to see effects fairly quickly.

If you take regular mineral and vitamin supplements, they are almost never absorbed. If you look at various products that are put out on the market, these work for a few people, but miss the mark on the majority of people. Why does this happen? It is because for those who made use of a particular supplement, it supplied their bodies with what it needed to be well. Other people who took the same product had different needs, which were not supplied in that product. So, it didn't do anything for them.

The Importance of Providing Voltage To The Cell

Voltage, as a control mechanism is mostly overlooked in all of medicine. It's like trying to start your car, if you have no battery or alternator. It won't work and you can't get your car started so you are not going anywhere. So it is with cells. The voltage to make cells work is -22 mv. If there is not sufficient voltage, the cells can't work.

(Note: The key element in how Doctors works with chronic disease is that they associate disease with a loss of voltage. If you stick an electrode inside a tumor, it will disappear as you restore voltage to it. There are hundreds or thousands of articles on how pain is associated with low pH and low voltage. So, voltage is a very important issue.

What are the important ways the body takes in voltage? Normally we could get voltage in good water. But now they put chlorine and fluoride in the water, so it is turned into an acid. This means that it steals voltage from us when we drink it! Raw organic food has voltage in it.

We get voltage from standing in the dirt because the Earth is a big electromagnet. We can lean up against a tree; hug a person or an animal. Getting out in the sun provides voltage. If we don't do this, we are voltage-depleted which leads to chronic disease. Because of the electrolytes in FrequenSea, we get voltage from drinking it.

Does this really work? Dr. Tennant's Patient Testimonials

I have a patient with Lyme's disease, age 22. He was 6'3 and weighed 80-90 pounds. He looked like a refugee from Somalia. He couldn't eat or think. Most of his day was taken up by the question, Am I going to die today? I was in a Catch 22 with him because I couldn't get his gut to work unless I got his neurochemicals to work. But, I couldn't get his neurochemicals to work because his gut was not working. He was the first person I give plankton to. Within 10 days, his spark of life came back, he had a twinkle in his eye; he had a sense of humor. Instead of saying, When am I going to die? he talked to my nurse about going out to dinner! It is dramatic when you see that kind of change in that short amount of time. Perhaps you can see the perspective with a product that can by-pass the digestive system.

A friend of mine in Memphis is an Integrative Medicine doctor. Her patient had a stage 10 liver disease. This is when the belly starts filling with water, called ascites. So this patient had a huge belly filled with water, which was drained, and then the water came back. Dr. Jennifer said we needed to get her control mechanisms back. The woman was comatose, so she was on nothing but plankton. Within a week all the fluid was out of her belly. Instead of being comatose, she was sitting up complaining about everything!

People need to understand that when the body gets sick, it has run out of the building materials it needs to keep itself working in the normal way. When we use pharmaceuticals, we put abnormal chemicals in our bodies. But we haven't solved the problem unless we supply the nutrients and voltage to make the body work. A body without nutrients is out of control. So, even though it wants to heal, it can't because it doesn't have the tools to do so.

We need to provide a complete food. Phytoplankton is a complete food. Many of my patients were told by their doctors to go home and die. This product bypasses the liver and the digestive system, so if the patient has a sick liver, they can still make use of this product.

The body replaces itself in an amazingly quick way. You only have to provide good building materials during an 8-month period of time and you can have a new body!

How does the system go astray?

The unhealthy contributions from the Food industry and the pharmaceutical industry:

(1) The food industry created processed foods by putting chemicals into foods to prevent spoilage. When we eat these foods, we get those chemicals into the body, so the cells won't work.

(2) The food industry cooked fats, causing hydrogenated ?plastic? fats.

(3) The food industry created artificial sweeteners.

(4) The pharmaceutical industry has given us drugs to suppress symptoms under the guise of ?health care?, which is really disease care.

The Unhealthy Fat Concern: If you cook fat for 5 hours at 350 degrees, you get partially hydrogenated fats. This means they are giving you a fat that is one carbon atom away from plastic. When the cell dies and needs to make new cells, and if all it can find are plastic fats, then that new cell is made out of plastic, which doesn't work very well.

Eating Plastic Fats can cause type II diabetes and obesity. The body says it is hungry. So the body sends sugar and insulin. If a cell membrane is made of plastic, then glucose and insulin can't get through, so it says again, I'm hungry! Then it sends more sugar and insulin. There is now too much sugar and insulin, but it can't get into the cell. Then the body takes that glucose and stores it in fat cells. When insulin is present, insulin locks fat cells shut so you can't get to the energy. This is type II Diabetes.

Why Should Someone Who is in Relatively Good Health Take Phytoplankton?

The main issue here is that if you are not currently mineral depleted, you soon will be. The produce grown in our country is usually grown with triphosphate fertilizers. The farmers don't put back zinc, magnesium, molybdenum and many other minerals into the soul. So, over time we run out of minerals in our bodies. I have yet to have a single patient that has adequate minerals. Without minerals, you are going to have cells that quit working, so we have to supplement with minerals. Most of these are usually taken in pill form, which are not absorbed. This product contains ionic minerals, in a liquid form, which are very well absorbed and utilized.

People often ask how many milligrams of this or that nutrient is in this product. This information is not too relevant in a product that is nearly 100% bio-available, unlike other supplements where you may only absorb 10% of it. The companies who make these products know about the lack of absorption, and this is why there are such high daily minimum amounts set by the regulating agencies. But, when we are able to absorb nearly 100% of a product, we need much less of it.

Please realize that knowing how many milligrams of a substance that is in a product doesn't tell you what it will do. Will it get across the intestines? It depends on the strength of it. It's the power that has been put in nature that feeds the body on a cellular level and gives the body the energy it needs.

Once you get the product into the system, what is it doing? At the atomic level, what is an electron? How do electrons work in they body? Every atom gives off specific wavelengths of light - frequencies of light. These are measured with the spectrophotometer. When you find those frequencies of light, you can see what is there.

Those same atoms not only give off light, they are absorbed as frequencies. These are measured with the spectrophotometer. When you find those frequencies of light, you can see what is there.

Those same atoms not only give off light, they are absorbed as frequencies. If you give these frequencies the patient becomes stronger. At the atomic level a molecule can be weak or strong, just as a magnet. Atoms are the same way. Depending on the strength of energy stored in a molecule of calcium or another mineral, it is quite different depending on the energy of it. The energy portion of something that comes in a natural way leads us into energy medicine, like homeopathy. (Completion of Dr. Tennant's Teachings.)

When I understand how the body works, I can work with restoring its wholeness. I feel empowered and know I can succeed. The great news is that we have the solution! It is the ocean plankton.

I feel a real obligation to share this story with all people and animals!

We all know someone who is struggling with his or her health. Plankton is so powerful on a cellular level that we can expect a response from the body almost right away.

Dr. Tennant's level of simplicity in just looking at what it takes to make one cell work is BRILLIANT! It is my intention to share these notes that I have compiled from Dr. Tennant's teachings to help you realize why everyone on the planet could benefit from taking ocean plankton daily, for the rest of their lives!

I am an opportunistic woman, happily married, mother of 4 children and deeply concerned with American Health. Coming from a very European background and culture that embraces a completely different attitude toward food and health, I felt obliged to make a difference in our society by educating people about the devasting impact our attitudes towards what we eat will have on our future. When I was a kid, I used to love to watch, I Dream of Genie. How cool would it be, I used to think, to have my own genie in a bottle? My wishes then would obviously be different then now that Iam older and more pragmatic, today my wishes are: health, wealth and happiness. Those wishes are probably the same three that many people would choose if they found their genie in a bottle. Well, I can honestly tell you that, even though I haven?t found the genie, I?ve found the bottle. Even better, I feel like I am a genie with a bottle because I am now helping other people realize their wishes for health, wealth, and happiness.

Hemophilia A Case Study

For all that we know in medicine there are so many things that we do not know.

Hypnosis is nothing new, but it is still grossly misunderstood as an adjunct therapy to the majority of health care providers. However, providers educated in hypnosis and the power of suggestion realize its real value and nature in the healing arts. Most people go in and out of hypnosis several times a day. Day dreaming is so nearly like hypnosis, some authorities consider them one and the same. The difference is that thoughts are random in daydreaming where in hypnosis, suggestions are directed.

The hypnotic state is something a person accomplishes by himself. It is a state of complete relaxation, physical and mental. It is an alternate state of consciousness characterized by profound relaxation. In this state the mind is more susceptible to suggestions. Hypnosis is accomplished by a combination of confidence and suggestion which can have marvelous results. It is not a medicine nor is it a cure-all, but rather a tool which can benefit one immensely.

Today, some twenty thousand physicians, dentists, psychologists, nurses, hypnotherapists in other medical professions, and hypno- technicians are using hypnosis in their practices. Hypnosis is being taught to members of the healing arts, police officers, lawyers, clergymen, students, salesmen and a host of others who have found it beneficial in their endeavors. Some medical schools are now including a course in hypnosis as part of their curriculum.

Tommy was fourteen and a victim of hemophilia which is a defective or deficient blood coagulation molecule known as factor VIII. Tommy required as many as six transfusions of cryoprecipitate weekly, a very expensive and time consuming treatment. Using hypnosis as an adjunct therapy, Tommy learned how to manage his bleeds drastically decreasing his need for transfusions. This was a significant change for the family financially and in Tommy?s improved mental and physical health.

Hypnosis was used in four ways. First, was ego-strengthening. Tommy was given suggestions that he no longer had to compete with his peer group to be accepted. Second, He was taught to recognize when he was bleeding into a joint very early. Early recognition of internal bleeding combined with increased self- esteem allowed him to stop what he was doing without embarrassment, decreasing the amount of injury. Third, Tommy used guided imagery to create cold at the site of bleeding to slow down blood flow. He also visualized faucets on his blood vessels that could be switched on or off. Fourth, He learned auto-hypnosis which enabled him to reinforce the post-hypnotic suggestions given by the hypnotist.

How Can Fat Be Essential?

How Can Fat Be Essential?

By Garry Gamber

?

???? Did you know that some fats are essential to the body?? Yes, there are some fats that our body cannot produce which means that we must get them from our food.? Perhaps you?ve heard of omega-3 fatty acids and omega-6 fatty acids.? These are both considered essential and must be supplied by the foods we eat.

?

???? What do they do?? Well, the omega-3 fatty acid, for example is used for the production of healthy cell membranes and for the production of a class of hormones called prostaglandins.? You know how aspirin and acetominophen are anti-inflammatories?? So are the prostaglandins that our bodies produce from omega-3 fatty acids.

?

???? Now, we need the omega-3?s and the omega-6?s to be in the proper combination to be most effective to us.? Empirical evidence shows that the proper ratio is about 4:1 between omega-6 and omega-3 fatty acids.? What do you suppose our average diet gives us?? About a 20:1 and up to a 40:1 ratio; not even close to the optimal ratio.

?

???? Why is the balance so out of whack?? Well, our normal diets are rich in omega-6 fatty acids.? We get them from meats, dairy products, and processed foods.? We eat a lot of those foods on average.? We get omega-3 fatty acids from certain vegetable oils such as flaxseed, canola, and soybean.? And we get omega-3 fatty acids from cold-water fish such as mackerel, sardines, salmon, and tuna.

?

???? Eat more fish!? You?ve heard that said before, and now you know why.

?

???? Especially the salmon.? It is especially rich in the beneficial omega-3 fatty acids.? Salmon , or any of the other omega-3 rich fish (but what tastes better than good salmon?) should be consumed at least once a week.

?

???? In order to get the omega-6 vs. omega-3 ratio in order, decrease your consumption of the saturated fat from meats and dairy products and increase your consumption of fish such as salmon.

?

???? Do you know how else you will benefit from increased consumption of omega-3 fatty acids?? Your cholesterol level will improve.? You see, the essential omega-3 fatty acids have the ability to help decrease your total cholesterol and your LDL cholesterol level.? The LDL cholesterol is the so-called bad cholesterol.? So you will improve your cholesterol levels by adding a better balance of omega-3 fatty acids to your diet.

?

???? Not surprisingly, the omega-3 fatty acids can be heart healthy.? Several diseases show improvement when patients increase their intake of these essential fats.? Check out Dr. Ray Strand?s important book for citings of clinical studies of? omega-3.? The book is titled, ?What Your Doctor Doesn?t Know About Nutritional Medicine May Be Killing You.?? It?s a wonderful book and should be a standard reference volume in your nutrition library.

?

???? Eat well, take appropriate supplements, and stay healthy.

Acomplia is an Answer to Your Overweight Problem

Being overweight may put you into many embarrassing situations and at that time in frustration or in depression one chooses dieting to loose that extra pound of weight. But they are unaware of the fact that this may help them burn their calories but at the same time body muscles also gets disappear. One thing more, dieting is dangerous and leads to various perilous diseases.

So is there any effective alternative way to shed those extra pounds from your body without any health problem? And the answer is YES. Thanks to medical science which has given us Acomplia.

Though it may seem to be impossible at the first time, but it is your approach that will decide about your future body status. According to various clinical trails, appetite suppressant gives a control on over weight problem and works effectively with a balanced diet plan a regular exercise regime. One such appetite suppressant is Acomplia. Advantages attached with Acomplia diet pills make it stand different from others and is said to have lesser side effects than other diet pills available in the market.

Acomplia not only works as a weight loss drug but also stop our urges for smoking. Acomplia is the first of a new class of drugs that block the cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1).

Researchers say that this system of receptors is disrupted by tobacco and by chronic overeating. The drug restores the balance in the system, reducing dependence on tobacco and suppressing appetite. Since many smokers are also overweight, Acomplia could end up doing double duty.

Acomplia?s mode of action targets the same biological switch in the brain that makes people hungry when they smoke cannabis. The drug binds to and blocks a so-called cannabinoid receptor protein found on the surface of brain cells. Obese patients treated for one year on the highest dose of 20 mg per day shed an average of 19 pounds and lost 3.5 inches of waistline, researchers showed, while 39 percent lost more than one-10th of their body weight.

Clarence Carter received training as a healthcare scientist. She has been working in the same field and writes informative articles, weight loss being her pet subject. Practice Proper Oral Hygiene Before It's Too Late

Imagine yourself in a blind date with a woman who has the shiniest hair, fairest and clearest complexion, and the nicest pair of blue eyes. Her outfit is marvelous and she wears just the right amount of make-up to highlight her best features. You think she's simply amazing and the night can't get any better. Apparently, the moment she flashes her smile, you are instantly turned off. You are all the more frustrated when she started talking. The seemingly perfect date turns out to be a nightmare. Why? The woman, though undeniably gorgeous, has a poor oral hygiene. Some people underestimate the importance of oral hygiene, like proper brushing and flossing, and only realize its significance after a bad case of tooth decay materializes.

As a child, we were already taught the basics of caring for one's teeth: brush after every meal (or three times a day), floss everyday, and set appointment with the family dentist at least twice a year. But I bet only a few would admit that they religiously stick to these simple guidelines. According to a noted dental hygienist Sylvia Bresciano, who has an article published in the internet, having a great set of teeth is easy to achieve without breaking the bank. The decay of tooth enamel starts when plaque teams up with the sugar sticking in our teeth. It is extremely important to brush one's teeth after eating to prevent the reinforcement of tartar (the stubborn yellowish deposit coating our teeth). Aside from tartar build-up, poor oral hygiene causes tooth enamel to weaken which results to the dreaded toothache. If one is particularly careless when it comes to tooth care, it wouldn't take long before he realizes his teeth are slowly loosening and eventually falling. Since the enamel has already been attacked, the tooth is much more vulnerable to bacterial infection and decay.

Needless to say, one should not wait until he loses all his teeth before he does something about it. It is important to note the proper way of brushing teeth. Dentists advise that we should allot at least three minutes for brushing to make sure we thoroughly clean every quadrant of our mouth. Flossing is also vital in maintaining good oral hygiene. Through this process, hard-to-reach morsels stucked in between teeth are removed to prevent wreaking havoc to our teeth. One can also have coffee-stained teeth professionally bleached for that extra clean finish. If the budget is tight, he can opt for teeth whitening products available in groceries. It is wise to invest in oral hygiene paraphernalia that can effectively aid in achieving and maintaining healthy teeth worthy to be featured in toothpaste commercials.

Nutrition and Eating: Friends for Life

I?ll bet you?ve never even taken the time to consider what your nutritional needs might be, or the importance of that nutrition on your health. Did you know that if the brain doesn?t get enough protein, it doesn?t develop correctly, or if the healthy female body doesn?t get enough flax oil, omega-3 and omega-6 her body?s metabolism will not function correctly and she is more susceptible to weight gain? All these pieces of information and many more are contributing factors to our nutritional needs, and our nutritional needs are met through our eating habits, good or bad.

Nutrition as it applies to our daily lives means that we take in what we need to maintain our body?s healthy state. Nutrition has become an important word thanks to the involvement of the USDA in our daily food requirements, and the FDA?s involvement in determining what is and is not dangerous for us to consume.

But what is our responsibility in the nutrition game? Do we understand what our nutritional requirements are, how to fulfill those requirements, and how to look for real nutritional value in our foods? I?m not sure that nutrition has been successfully addressed in its own right. We hear nutrition in relation to our vitamin intake, our fortified cereals and milk, and in the context that we need ?nutritional value? from our food choices. But what really is nutrition when applied to our daily bodily functions?

Nutrition refers to the nurturing of our body, in our ability to keep it healthy and functioning as it is supposed to do. Our ability to provide the body with all the necessary food, vitamins, and minerals so that we continue to thrive in our daily life processes.

How do we determine that we are providing the essential nutritional needs? That knowledge comes by educating ourselves about what our individual needs are, the needs of our family, and then taking that knowledge and applying it to the foods we buy, that we prepare, and that our families consume. Our nutritional needs and caloric needs change as we age, the nutritional needs of a 13 year old teenager are much different to those of a 30 year old woman.

Quite often, our vitamin and mineral needs outweigh our caloric needs. In those instances, we turn to manufactured vitamins and minerals to fill the gap. This is a part of our nutritional needs, also.

Nutrition is one of the most complex areas to gain useful knowledge about, because there are so many components, and because each person has their own individual needs. Women?s needs differ from those of men, and older women?s needs differ from those of a young girl. As we age, our needs constantly change; therefore continual education about nutrition is a fact of life. The information we have available about the health choices and alternatives available to us change daily. Very few medical doctors ever address our nutritional needs, past the needs of a pregnant woman, or an already ailing patient. What about the needs of the well patient? In order to stay healthy, there is nutrition, exercise, mental, and emotional needs that must be met.

Protein Diet The Healthy Way Of Living

You need protein for the repair and growth of the body. Protein is composed of chains of amino acids. There are only twenty common amino acids but they are combined in nature in an infinite number of ways so that proteins differ in structure and in their enzymatic qualities.

In the old days scientists spoke of first and second class proteins. Today we know that out of the twenty amino acids, eight are essential in that the adult cannot make them in the body, and the rest are called nonessential because they can be made from the essential ones.

One more amino acid, histidine, is needed for growing infants, and so is essential to begin with, but not later on. It is a mistake to think of the non-essential amino acids as being without value, for they too are found in the cells of our bodies; it is only that we can do without them if we have to. The essential amino acids are: isoleucine, leucine, lysine, methionine, phenylalanine, threonine, tryptophan and valine.

Most vegetable sources of protein are lacking in one or other of the essential amino acids, but eggs, milk, meat and fish contain all the amino acids in the correct proportions. However if you mix grains, seeds, pulses, nuts and legumes so that your diet is not consisting of a single type of vegetable protein, then the biological value of the mixture is excellent.

Indeed such a diet is good because if does not contain the saturated fat commonly present in meat. The body does not need a great deal of protein, provided this supplies the essential amino acids in the right mixture. The unwanted amino acids are converted into heat and energy and not materials for the growth and repair of the cells.

Only recently did the World Health Organization realize that vast sums were being spent on giving too much protein to the starving and under-privileged millions, when all the poor were doing was to convert the excess protein to much-needed energy. When energy providing foods are given instead the protein levels usually do not need supplementation.

Kevin Pederson has been managing a number of natural home remedies websites which have information on home based natural cures and the importance of proteins and other necessary supplements required by our body.

Packing on Muscle mass involves a lot of dedication and care. At times, trying too hard can have its negative effects too. Right guidance and proper techniques make the perfect recipe to MUSCLE BUILDING. Muscle Building is no joke, but at the same time, very much possible. The bottomline is to workout in the right direction and not to harm your body. Here are some Do's and Dont's for Muscle Building.

Muscle Building Tips: Do's and Dont's

1) Muscle Building Diet: It occupies a prominent area in MUSCLE BUILDING pie-chart. You should be highly careful related to your muscle building diet. Always ask your trainer to write down a diet schedule for you.

2) Give rest to your body between two sets, say for two minutes.

3) Not work on more than two muscle groups at a time. Train those mucles in a group which work with each other. This technique has proven to be effective. For eg: Chest and Triceps or biceps and backs.

4) The most effective time to do muscle building exercises is in the morning. You have consumed a lot of carbs by evening. So, carbs become the source of energy for you when you do your exercises in evening. But in morning, body depends on its alternative source i.e FAT for energy. Hence fats get burned up more in morning.

5) Last but not the least, Dont be biased to any body part. Proper balance is a necessity. Having big upper body and skinny legs is no good. Work out on entire body.

I felt awful about myself throughout most of the fifteen years I suffered from anxiety and panic. Everything I did manage to do seemed to be second or third best, I seemed to be limited in all areas of my life. Equally everyone else seemed to be living life in the fast lane, travelling, partying, being successful, being popular, and being interesting. I had some girlfriends but I was a poor partner, my anxiety left me almost housebound and my low self confidence made my bedroom performance a bit lacklustre. I felt constantly tired yet could barely sleep, I was irritable and angry and lost friends. I believe a low feeling of self-worth was at least a partial cause of my anxiety in the first place, and my nose-diving self esteem, unsurprisingly, made my anxiety worse. It was, to coin a clich?, a vicious circle.

There were two issues to deal with. The low self esteem that was causal to my anxiety and therefore potentially still part of the problem, and the low self esteem which was caused by my anxiety. Both had to change.

You tend to reap what you sow. If you feel nervous, unworthy, or un-cool you tend to give that impression to the people around you. Unsurprisingly, they treat you as though you were boring, because you are too tongue-tied to say anything interesting or funny, they look down their noses at you because they think you are unworthy, and they prefer to speak to cooler people. You largely chose how people react to you.

What follows are a few tips I have picked up for dealing with self esteem.

1) Most of what we feel, and most of what happens to us, is chosen by us. It is almost entirely in our control. Understanding this and keeping an eye out for the subtle choices you make all the time is highly important.

So when I had recognised that how people reacted to me was largely a self-fulfilling prophecy I had to chose how I wanted them to react to me. Although it may seem negative and unpleasant one thing I did was to bring them down to my level. Instead of looking at them as perfect and me as flawed I looked at us as both flawed. For example I said to myself ?I may have anxiety, but he is so arrogant everyone is rude about him behind his back.? Or ?He has been round the world but now he?s starting a career in management consultancy, what a dull boy.

At least I am an interesting person inside.? In this way I met people as equals, and eventually with a healthy feeling of superiority. Of course when you have low self esteem you want to be liked, even need to be liked. The more people don?t instantly take to you, the more you want them to and the less they do. You are liked most when you are being yourself without a care in the world. In order to achieve this I made a list of all the people I could think of whom I disliked or felt neutral to at first sight, but grew to like or even love over time. The list was massive. I made an equally long list of people I liked instantly and grew to hate or fear.

2) First impressions DON?T count! Relationships between friends, colleagues and lovers evolve and grow naturally. ?First impressions count? is a mantra repeated by companies which sell shampoo and deodorant. Don?t give too much to soon, people like to earn respect. I, like almost everyone else, am wary of people who are desperate to be loved and try too hard. No one is universally liked, unless they are very false and tell everyone what they what to here. If someone doesn?t like you it doesn?t matter. Maybe they will grow to like you or maybe they won?t. Either way you will still be you.

People often say they wished they were someone else. I felt like that. When I stopped to think about it though I was wrong, I wanted to be me, even at my lowest ebb. Sometimes you want to be as good looking as someone, as clever as someone else, as rich as a third person. I wracked my brains about every person I considered successful and offered myself the opportunity to take on no just the parts I liked but their whole being. There was not a single person I would have rather been. I didn?t want their parents, their looks, their troubled past, their annoying voice, their premature grey hair or yellow teeth.

Statistics say that only one-in-five successful entrepreneurs had both parents alive through their childhood. So they may be rich, but their toughness is built of grief and hardship. It?s all very well envying their wealth, but would you really want to be them? Try making your own lists of people you did and didn?t like at first sight. Think about the people you envy and assess how much you would like to actually be them, warts and all.

Often self esteem issues stem from childhood and how parents and care-givers react to you and around you. In extreme cases the way an anxiety sufferer was treated as a child might constitute abuse and cruelty. More likely as children, like me, the average sufferer felt scared and unloved. It is helpful for both now and dealing with the past to understand how people treated you. The truth is that as children we are all a little self obsessive. We believe the world is run for us and that everything is to do with us. We also tend to blame ourselves for how people respond to us and treat us. What we often forget or don?t know is that people have their own personalities and trains of thought which might well be far more complex than we can guess. The reasons they react as they do are not then because of us, even if they appear to be reacting to something we?ve done. Those people, such as parents, give off their own personalities in all directions for a whole range of reasons to do with what is going on in their life, or has happened to them in the past.

3) I started to see that when people were angry or offish with me, they were giving that negative vibe off in all directions, and that it was affecting all people around them. This did not mean I could wash my hands of something I had done which deserved atonement. It did mean that I could understand that my parents were not uncaring to me; they were generally emotionally distant in all areas of their lives. It hadn?t been my fault. The diagram below illustrates this. Try drawing your own.

4) You are not as crap as you think. While you have been suffering from panic attacks and anxiety you, like I, may have felt that you have missed out a lot, let life pass you by, or are growing old without having achieved your full potential. Like before it is easy to look at others and see them as so much more successful than you. In my case my achievements had certainly not been so obvious; I had not been round the world, been for a night out in London, or been offered a job by a top city company. I had done many things though, and I illustrated this to myself by writing a list of them. I have included my list here. As you can see, they show that I was a unique, interesting human being with a life going on around them in which I play a full roll. Try writing your own list to see how much you have achieved. And remember that you will achieve more and more as you recover. You self esteem may not magically rise, but bit by bit you can respect yourself more, and as you respect yourself more you will achieve more.

Look out for my follow up articles where I discuss other issues to getting over anxiety, panic attacks and phobias. I will post details on Anxiety2calm.com, where all information is given away for free.

I am an ex-anxiety sufferer campaigning against expensive gimmicks targeted at vulnerable anxiety sufferers by cynical businessmen. We all have an image of ?fit? - lean, even thin, with a healthy glow. Many researchers are now beginning to question that picture of fitness - there may be more to being ?fit? and less to being ?fat? than conventional wisdom suggests.

What Are The Dangers Of Extra Weight

Carrying extra weight can put stress on your body. People who are overweight - that is, who weigh more for their height than is considered healthy - may be at increased risk of high blood pressure, type 2 diabetes, and strokes, and may put additional pressure on their joints.

So Thin People Are In Danger Too?

However, as recent debates among scientists show, the ?fit = thin? equation may hide a more complex situation. Often, when an overweight person begins to exercise and eat healthier foods, measures of their health improve. It might be that blood pressure and cholesterol improve because of weight loss that comes with exercise. But, researchers like Steven Blair argue, it may be that the exercise itself makes us healthier. As we exercise and eat better, our metabolism - the use of food to build and repair the body and make energy - changes, and that?s what makes us healthy. The weight loss is a sort of ?side effect? of the changes we?ve made in lifestyle.

Focus On Your Body's Functions, Not Appearance:

Glenn Glaesser, author of Big Fat Lies: The Truth About Your Weight and Your Health, endorses the idea of metabolic fitness. He suggests that we not focus on height-to-weight ratios (like the body-mass index or BMI) but on other measures of how your body is functioning, like cholesterol level, blood pressure, blood sugar and waist-to-hip ratio. His research suggests that it?s possible to be fit and not have the slender figure we see in so many fashion magazines and movies. Conversely, if you are slender and sedentary, you may have health risks, regardless of your physique.

But don?t replace one equation with another simplistic one: fat = fine. A balance seems to be the thing that all the experts agree on.

Balance Is Important:

If you fit the standard body-mass index definition of obese, how do you achieve the balance? Start out by finding out more about your health. Check your fat-to-muscle ratio. See if you?re carrying a healthy amount of fat on your body relative to muscle (your local Y may be able to estimate your body fat for you at low cost). Ask your healthcare provider check your blood sugar, cholesterol, blood pressure, and heart function. Your nurse practitioner or doctor can help you think about small changes in diet and exercise that can help you get more fit, show you what parts of your metabolic health are doing well, what could use work. And lastly, check your own functioning: are there things you?d like to do that you haven?t been able to? Are you getting tired on the dance floor more often than you?d like?

Take Improvement Step-By-Step:

Then, start slowly incorporating changes into your life - you may need to change how much you eat, what you eat, how much you exercise, or some combination, to achieve better health. Check back regularly with your health care worker, who can help you monitor progress. You may lose some weight in the process. You might not, initially, but do yourself a favor and take your measurements as well. The weight may not change, but you may find yourself becoming slimmer simply because muscle weighs a lot but doesn?t take up as much room as fat does!

As your health and metabolic status improves, you may find that you aren?t at the ?perfect? weight. The jury is still out on whether losing extra weight to reach the ?ideal? is necessary for the best health. However, don?t be discouraged and quit your newly healthy lifestyle: the new research does tell us that fitness, whatever your weight, brings you health benefits that will stand you in good stead - and help you enjoy your fun activities today.

Medical Causes and Hair Loss Prevention

Are you one of the millions of people who have noticed thinning hair, a receding hair line, or bald patches? Have you considered that the reasons for your hair loss may actually be a medical condition? If so, then perhaps your hair loss is reversible, and future loss preventable.

There are many causes of medically related hair loss. For example, high fever, severe or prolonged illness, a hormonal imbalance, pregnancy and childbirth, or extreme stress can all cause hair loss. Protecting the remaining strands from further damage is essential to preventing future loss.

Many medications can cause hair loss, such as diuretics, blood pressure medications, birth control, skin and anti-fungal medications. These may cause thinning hair or bald spots. And of course, chemotherapy is a very well-known treatment that causes hair loss.

Estrogen is a hormone that protects against hair loss, and as women age estrogen levels naturally decrease. The hormone dihydrotestosterone causes hair follicles to shrink and makes existing hairs thin and fragile. Disorders of the thyroid gland can cause thinning hair or hair loss, as well.

Poor diet or malnutrition is another medical reason for hair loss. This cause can become combined with other medical causes, because serious illnesses can lead to malnutrition due to inability to eat properly. Vitamin supplements are recommended for anyone, especially those who are already experiencing hair loss.

As with any condition, diagnosing the cause is the first step in treatment. Hair loss is often a symptom of a medical condition, and understanding the cause will help reverse the problem and prevent future hair loss.

The Jiggle Effect on Faster Weight Loss

Exercise Physiologists who study the effects of

exercise on weight loss, have determined that

the jiggling or shaking of excess body fat

when someone walks fast or jogs, in combination

with the muscle contractions invlovled in that

activity, causes weight loss. I call it the

jiggle effect. :)

This effect is caused by chemical messengers in

the body - in response to the jiggle and

muscle contractions - they say, hey body, this

person needs to be able to move more efficiently,

let's get rid of some of this fat. So, above

and beyond the normal caloric expenditure of that

activity, these chemical messengers cause fat

loss to happen more easily.

So, how can you take advantage of the jiggle

effect? The more you jiggle, and the more

intense the muscle contractions, the more

pronounced the effect. Thus, faster walking

is better than slower walking, and a slow

jog is better than a fast walk. A good way

to incorporate this into your aerobic exercise

is to use intervals.

As you may know, I believe in making intervals

a major part of your aerobic exercise sessions.

I've received lots of encouraging feedback from

my subscribers who have been very successful

with interval training. Here are a few of the

messages..

Greg, Thanks for all your help. I took your

advice and started using intervals in my walking

sessions. Woooooo! The results have been

dramatic. First of all in the way I feel. I have

never really felt good after exercise, but now

I think I'm getting that high thing. I feel

fantastic. I am so much more energetic all

day long now.

I had been struggling at a weight loss plateau

but this got me over it and I'm consistently

losing two to three pounds a week. Thanks

for turning me on to this.

Hello Greg, I read on your site about intervals

and decided to give it a try. I really can't

believe how different my exercise is now.

I have much more muscle tone, and I know

this sounds crazy, but some weeks my

weight loss just seems to take off. I love

this!

Greg, About three months ago I started doing

intervals as you suggested and I actually

look forward to exercise now. It makes the

time pass quickly and I really feel pumped

when I finish. Thanks for the recommendation.

I receive a few messages similar to these

every week. Are you ready to give intervals

a try? Here's how to get started..

Intervals are brief periods (about one minute)

of more intense exercise mixed into your

regular aerobic exercise sessions. For

example, if you're walking, you would do a

one minute interval of faster walking about

every five minutes throughout your exercise

session.

Here's how it will look.. you'll start with

your normal three to five minute warm-up and

then five minutes into your workout you do

your first interval, one minute of faster

walking (or perhaps jogging). At the end of

that minute you should be winded and ready

to slow down. You'll slow down to your normal

exercising speed for the next four minutes

and then your fifth minute is another one

minute interval. This pattern continues

throughout your exercise session.

You'll derive several benefits from intervals..

1. Intervals can help you to get past a

weight loss plateau.

2. Intervals increase your aerobic fitness

level by pushing the envelope. While doing

your interval you cross the anaerobic

threshold into anaerobic metabolism, forcing

your body to become conditioned to more

intense exercise.

3. Your increased level of fitness means that

a given level of exercise will feel easier

and that you will be able to exercise at a

higher intensity which burns more calories.

4. Your increased level of fitness also means

that you will be less fatigued from daily

activities and you'll have more energy

throughout the day.

5. Intervals increase your basal metabolic

rate (BMR), causing you to burn more calories

24 hours-a-day.

6. Intervals cause you to burn more calories

during your exercise session and for several

hours afterwards.

7. Intervals will tone the involved muscles

to a greater degree than your regular aerobic

exercise would.

8. Intervals can make your exercise less

monotonous and help the time pass more

quickly.

9. Intervals will energize you!

10. Intervals will activate the jiggle affect

If you'd like to put a little excitement into

your exercise, and you're looking for better

results, give intervals, and jiggling a try!

Quit Smoking Methods ? An Alternative Perspective

?A cigarette is a pipe with a fire at one end and a fool at the other? said Dr. Johnson in his sarcastic comment on cigarettes and smoking.

Smoking is in fact a pernicious craving for tobacco products, especially cigarettes and cigars.

An organic compound, nicotine, which is richly found in tobacco smoke, is very detrimental to your health. It is linked with various health risks. It can cause diseases of the cardiovascular system, myocardial infarction (heart attack), stroke, diseases of the respiratory tract such as Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD) chronic bronchitis and emphysema, cancer (particularly lung cancer and cancers of the larynx and tongue), peripheral vascular disease, birth defects of pregnant smokers' offspring, Buerger's disease (thromboangiitis obliterans), impotence, and in some cases it may develop cataracts that may cause blindness.

The statement ?One thousand Americans stop smoking every day - by dying? ironically expresses the risks of smoking.

?Sooner or later, everyone stops smoking.? Major health risks can be minimized by cessation smoking. Smoking cessation means to quit smoking, but the cardinal point is how to quit smoking.

Smoking can be quitted by using nicotine-containing tobacco substitutes. Nicotine replacement therapy has been quite an effective treatment. It uses various other nicotine delivery methods to replace nicotine obtained from smoking or other tobacco usage. The nicotine patch, inhaler, nasal spray, gum, gel, and lozenge are some effective tools of NTR. Nicotine gum is a chewing gum, which delivers nicotine to the body.

Nicotine patches are also used to quit smoking. Nicotine patches are transdermal patches that release nicotine into the skin. The patch therapy has been considerably successful in helping many people quit.

Hypnosis Stop-Smoking programs are another alternative that can help people who seriously want to quit.

Quit smoking help with hypnosis involves consultations and sittings with a hypnotherapist, who generally squeezes out the reasons for one?s smoking and the reasons for wanting to quit. Various hypnotherapy techniques, positive affirmations, and suggestions, are used to help the patient undertake a change of mindset and therefore quit smoking. Tools like stop smoking tapes or CDs are provided to the patient. Quit smoking hypnosis therapy is also proving to be a great quit smoking support.

The best way to quit smoking is to develop a strong will power to want to quit smoking. People who have weak will power cannot quit smoking. Weak will power can make even the effective therapies useless.

James I of England expressed his hate for smoking while he quoth, ?A custom loathsome to the eye, hateful to the nose, harmful to the brain, dangerous to the lungs, and in the black, stinking fume thereof nearest resembling the horrible Stygian smoke of the pit that is bottomless.?

Smoking is not only injurious to health but rather to society also. It should be eradicated as early as possible.

Paul MacIver writes articles on a variety of topics. For further information on successful stop smoking methods visit How to Quit Smoking You may freely reprint this article as long as nothing is changed, this resource box is included and all links are intact.

Facial Skin Care Tips For Your Type Of Skin

With all the skin care tips and information today, you might think it's very confusing! All you want is what is best for your skin. It may be overwhelming for you to try to keep up with the constantly evolving technology.

Skin care tip #1 - your skin is unique. If your best friend uses the most powerful product, it may do nothing for you, or you might even have a reaction to it.

Before you consider buying any over-the-counter skin care products, there are a few basic facts about your skin you must know. These include:

Your skin type. It is oily, dry, normal, sensitive, or a combination?

Your skin complexion. Do you have fair skin that burns easily or light to medium that may burn? Or do you have a medium tone that usually tans or a darker complexion the only rarely burns? Or is your complexion so dark that you never burn?

Your skin concerns. Do you want preventative maintenance to avoid premature aging? Do you have a skin problem, such as persistent acne, age spots, melasma or rosacea? You may also have large pores, sun damage, facial wrinkles or fine lines that require special attention. Do you have eye puffiness or under eye bags that will require special care?

Your personal habits. Are you a smoker? Do you spend a lot of time in the sun? Do you take a daily vitamin? Do you consume a well-balanced diet? All these factors will affect how you should care for your skin.

Getting Rid of Cellulite Easier than Ever

Cellulite is a word that can make a grown woman cry. This is one of those terms that means something is wrong that needs to be fixed in order for the person to have a better image of the body that they have. In past years the word cellulite meant an expensive surgery that most could not afford and the ones that did found that the scarring was often times a lot worse than the cellulite in the first place. Getting rid of cellulite used to be an issue that caused so much grief and required a lot of money, but times have changed and for the better to be sure. There is no reason why a woman can not enjoy the body that she has without a lot of problems and spending a lot of money. This is thanks to the best cellulite treatments that are now available to the public. These new treatments have shown great promise in getting rid of cellulite in most cases and the cost is well in line with most of the budgets that are out there. Of course this does not mean that it is a cure, for there is no real cure for the problem.

Getting rid of cellulite means that you will need to have some dedication and a bit of patience. There is no overnight answer to the problem and you should expect it to take at least a week to see some results. The best cellulite treatments require some level of will power to make them work to the fullest but most times it is not all that difficult to get the desired results in the end. Getting rid of cellulite no longer has to be a painful or stressful time in your life. For the most part all you really need to do is change the way that you live in your day to day life. The best method for making sure that you are getting rid of cellulite is to take part in a good healthy diet and of course some moderate exercise. If you can teach your body to burn the fat and fight off the effects of too much fat then you will take the best cellulite treatments to the next level. They will work a lot better when you are living healthy when you take them on. They are not stand alone products and the body will always need some help in this area.

If you think becoming a bodybuilding champion is all about weight lifting, sadly you will never become one. Some of the most gifted physiques have fallen short because of lack of preparation in their presentation.

One of arts of becoming a champion that is not talked about is how you present the finished product the day of the competition. You may have a winning physique, but if you fail to show it to your advantage you may lose. I have won many of contests not just because I was in the best shape, but I learned how to hide weakly developed body parts with more well defined ones within my presentation.

Bodybuilding is an art through and through. While there is a selective number of posing required to go through during the judging portion and personal presentation rounds, it is how you do them that can make or break you. Here are some very important things to remember that could directly or indirectly win you championships.

Proper Planning:

This should go with out saying; practice posing long before the contest. As important as any other time in the gym is practicing posing, over and over and over again, until it is second nature. Judges can tell immediately if you have practiced.

Transitions:

The only smooth thing you want during a bodybuilding contest is the transitions from one pose to another. You want posing to look effortless. Smooth transitions are only a small detail, but they speak volumes to the judges. Going from one pose to another should not be noticeable if done correctly.

Relax But Don?t Relax:

Judges will say to the group of competitors, ?relax? after they call out a certain pose. DON?T! Well, relax but stay tense. If you are lean, every detail of muscle needs to show. If you relax between call outs, the muscularity will show that. In other words, your lines may temporarily disappear.

Music:

Pick music that fits your physique more so than your personality. You can turn off a judge if both are not connected. Too many make the mistake of fitting their personality. Judges don?t care about your personality; they care about your presentation of the finished product.

Oil:

Depending upon your physical shape and skin type it is very important to apply just the right amount of oil to enhance the muscle definition. You can make your body look ?smooth? if you put to much oil on, or you can look thin if you apply to little.

Remember, you can have the best product, but if the fine details are not practiced and presented right, you will be put right back on the shelf.

A long time ago I was involved in putting on Rainbow vacuum cleaner shows and I was always shocked at how much dirt there was in most houses. The Rainbow and Thermax vacuums use a recovery tank with water and I was always able to turn the water into a murky mess. Actually, the water appeared to have been taken from the Mississippi river or a muddy creek. A major health concern of homeowners today is dust mite infestation. Many people don't realize that dust mites are a major problem in the average American home.

The dust mite likes to live in your home. The reason being that they have it made there. It's warm, dry, and they have plenty to eat. What would you guess the dust mites like to eat and of which there is an abundant supply of in the average home? You're right, human skin! I put on a demo a long time ago in a very nice upper income families home in a nice neighborhood. If you had seen the house, you would have thought that it was squeaky clean from all appearances. However, they did let their two dogs live inside the house.

As soon as you walked in you would have thought, nice. I proceeded to turn the water muddy as I normally did and showed it to them. You should have seen the expressions on their faces when they looked in the water and saw lots and lots of drowned fleas! Those fleas convinced them to purchase a vacuum that night.

To insure that you have a clean carpet and healthy indoor environment, get a water based vacuum like the Thermax or Rainbow rather than a vacuum cleaner that uses bags.

Over the past twenty years, PCs and Macs have revolutionized the workplace and have created whole new job descriptions as well as radically redefining old ones. But along with the advances in information technology have come some very human problems. Employees typing on computer keyboards while staring at bright monitors for as much as eight or ten hours a day are suffering from maladies ranging from severe eyestrain to lower back problems to repetitive motion injury, or carpal tunnel syndrome.

Carpal tunnel syndrome, once seen primarily in factory and farm workers having to perform repetitive movements in the course of their jobs, has become epidemic in office workers. The carpal tunnel, an opening in the bones of the wrist, serves as a passage for the median nerve that runs through the wrist from the arm to the hand. In carpal tunnel syndrome, the median nerve becomes compressed by swollen or damaged tendons and ligaments in the wrist. The result is sharp pain which worsens with use, weakness in the hand, and, in severe cases loss of full hand function.

In some cases an anti-inflammatory medication such as aspirin or ibuprofen can help alleviate symptoms; wrist supports can also help. Some carpal tunnel sufferers have claimed success with oral doses of vitamin B6, but the effectiveness of this hasn?t been scientifically verified. Many victims of carpal tunnel syndrome have resorted to wrist surgery, with varying degrees of success.

The best approach to carpal tunnel syndrome is avoiding it in the first place. Soft, padded bars running the length of standard keyboards are manufactured to provide a wrist support for keyboarders. Structuring one?s workday to alternate periods of typing with other duties will help, as will taking periodic breaks away from the computer and desk altogether. And for some, whose jobs require long stretches of typing with no break, or who are particularly susceptible to wrist injuries, the best remedy may be a new job that doesn?t require repetitive motions.

Quit Smoking Laser Therapy

There are a lot of alternatives that heavy smokers may use in order to help them give up their vice. Low-level laser treatments are one of the most modern and efficient way to deal with nicotine withdrawal from the organism after giving up smoking.

Some information is required before deciding to try this method.

How Does Laser Therapy Work?

Quit smoking laser therapy works on the same principle as acupuncture, but it does not use needles. This therapy is considered to be a non-medical treatment that determines the release of endorphins in the body. These are some peptides, resembling opiates, that are needed in response to stress and that react to the brain?s opiate receptors to reduce the unpleasant sensations.

This method operates at the exterior of the body. During the treatment the laser acts upon the energy points situated on the hands, face, and ears.

How Effective Is Quit Smoking Laser Therapy?

Such a quit smoking laser therapy is not a sudden treatment when struggling to give up vices. It offers assistance during the first days after freeing nicotine addiction but sometimes it can be effective from the first 30 minutes session.

The success of such a method is complete as it was confirmed by a lot of cases. Even if its effects are not obvious from the very beginning it is certain that it cannot fail only in a few days.

The Benefits of Such a Therapy

The main advantage of quit smoking laser treatment is that it is not so expensive in comparison with the sums of money wasted on cigarettes during a month. But this investment has guaranteed results and it worth also on long term durations.

This therapy is also very good when trying to give up smoking as it also operates on your metabolism. In the moment of smoking cessation the metabolism tends to slow down and it is for this reason also that after giving up smoking you begin to put on weight. But laser therapy helps the body regain its normal metabolism and to get used to the new lifestyle, but it also restrains appetite. Consequently, this treatment is very much preferred in order to avoid the unpleasant situations of putting on weight.

In addition to this low-laser treatments are also very safe but it is not applicable to pregnant women or to those who are suffering from all types of illnesses such as cancer or epilepsy.

Quit smoking laser therapy is the most sure and safe method to be used when dealing with smoking cessation. It has no side effects and the results are doubtless. It is a long term investment that worth all the money when it comes to what?s best for your health.

The incidences of deseases like obesity, diabetes, colon deseases etc.are minimal in countries where the population has a regular dose of fiber in their diet.

Fiber is very important link in the weight loss puzzle. Fiber cannot be digested by the human digestive system and it passes out from the colons taking all the waste material with it.

Fiber provides bulk and softens the stools therby helping in regular bowel movements and avoiding constipation. In the intestine, fiber produces a gel which binds the bile acids and this leads the lever to convert cholesterol into bile thereby reducing cholesterol levels.

Fiber makes people feel less hungry on account of its bulk and reduces appetite resulting in weightloss. It also helps the body in controlling blood sugar.

Ayurveda Medical Science recommends consumption of fibre rich vegetables in large quantities to get rid of all the toxins from your body.Removal of toxins automatically ensures removal of excess fat from your body.

There are two types of fibers found in foods:

Insoluble fiber :

Insoluble fiber doesn't dissolve in water. This fiber increases the bulk of the food and helps in the fast passage of waste materials from the colons avoiding build up of toxins and therby deseases like colon cancer.

Soluble fiber :

This type of fiber forms a gel in the intestine and helps in reducing the cholesterol.

Your body needs a regular dosage of 30-40gms of fiber to keep in good health and lose those excess pounds.

Consuming the following foods will keep you in great shape and health:

High fiber foods:

Oat bran, Corn Bran, rice bran, wheat bran.

Medium fiber foods :

Whole grains, whole wheat pasta, whole wheat flour, oatmeal-rolled oats, steel cut oats, wheat-oat flour, corn meal, brown rice.

Low fiber foods to be avoided:

Refined foods like white flour(bleached or unbleached), pasta, cream of wheat, oat flour, corn starch, white rice.

One important aspect of fiber and weight loss is drinking lots of water.

Water makes the fiber swell and work better.

However, increase your consumption of fiber very gradually to avoid digestive discomfort.

Think Zinc An Essential Nutrient

Zinc is found in practically every cell in your body. There are about two grams of zinc where it is highly concentrated in the skin, hair, nails, eyes and testes.

Sexually active men need one third more zinc than women. With the exception of breast-feeding women, because the infant will absorb larger amounts of its mother?s zinc supply than normal.

Zinc is a precious mineral. Although our need for this mineral may be small, it plays an enormous part in growth and well-being. This need starts before birth.

It is needed for healthy skin and hair, proper healing of wounds, successful pregnancies and male virility. It also guards against infection and diseases.

Zinc also helps to transport Vitamin A to the retina in the eye. It is a constituent of many enzymes involved in metabolism. There are 156 enzymes that require zinc to be able to function.

Growth and sexual maturity depend on zinc.

What Is An Enzyme?

Enzymes are a protein that helps to break down the nutrients we take into the body through the food we eat; this in turn helps our metabolism.

What Is Metabolism?

Metabolism is the speed that the food we eat is absorbed and used by the body for normal daily living.

How Does Zinc Get Into The Body?

The body cannot manufacture Zinc; it has to be taken into the body by what you eat.

Food Sources are:

Oysters, Red Meat, Beans, Dairy Products, Poultry, Nuts and Whole Grains, Liver and Seeds.

The recommended daily dietary requirements of zinc are 15 mg. Vegetarians may suffer from a zinc deficiency, due to not eating red meat. Most of our intake of zinc is from our eating protein foods.

So a vegetarian should be sure to eat dairy products, beans and lentils. Pumpkin seeds provide one of the most concentrated vegetarian food sources of zinc.

Zinc is lost via the faeces, urine, hair, skin, sweat, semen and also menstruation.

Deficiency can result in weight loss, skin diseases, loss of hair, poor appetite, diarrhoea and frequent infection.

Those suffering from rheumatoid arthritis may have a zinc deficiency. And heavy drinkers lose a great deal of zinc in their urine.

If you don?t eat enough zinc providing food, you should take Supplementation.

Zinc in Combination

Zinc is usually found in combination with Calcium and Vitamin C.

What Zinc Can Do For You?

It helps to support a healthy Immune System. For example in Wound Healing. Also it helps you to taste and smell.

For normal growth and development during Pregnancy and Childhood Zinc is essential.

Too Much Zinc Can Be Bad For You.

Excess zinc is toxic. In other words it can poison the body. Too much will interfere with the metabolism of other minerals in the body, eg iron and copper.

Symptoms of too much zinc can include nausea, vomiting and fever.

For your good Health ??? Think Zinc.

Using yoga for weight loss might not look effective to most people. I bet you they?ll go: ?Naw, it?s just stretching?what can it possibly do to burn calories??

Well, a lot my friend. Yoga can work for weight loss if you use it right and I?ll tell you what to do in due course.

?But how exactly can yoga work for weight loss Foras? (That?s my name by the way), ya?ll just stretching that?s it?!?

Boy, I can?t tell you how many times I?ve heard that comment.

Well for interested parties, yoga as an option for weight loss is wise, safe and effective. Remember, it is the oldest physical culture known to man and not only does this exercise work the body, it works the mind and soul as well. Hey, have you seen Madonna, Sting or Russell Simmons lately? (I can just see you go: ?Foras?they were never overweight so don?t go there! Well?they never gained weight either and they actually all still look good for there ages right?

Okay, here are the poses I recommend you use when using Yoga for weight loss. Now my friend, I will go over what I believe is the CORE of Yoga Poses. Trust me, there have been times when I did this alone and still got the benefits that yoga gives from daily practice.

Let?s take notes:

The Sun Salutations When using Yoga for Weight Loss:

These exercises are a combination of Yoga Poses, Breathing Exercises, Sun Bathing and Prayer. They have been practiced for centuries by Yoga Practitioners in India, Martial Artists and African Wrestlers and as a system to rejuvenate the body and soul are beyond compare. It?s been said in the Drugless Healing circles that one round of the Sun Salutations is much better than a week of exercises at the gym!

They are very simple to learn and just about anyone, regardless of their fitness or flexibility levels can learn these simple exercises. In actuality, if you are familiar with ?burpies? (the calisthenics exercise), they do derive their origin from the Sun Salutations.

Here are some of their benefits:

-They alleviate disorders of the skin and waist.

-Flexibility increases and breathing is corrected, moreover, they mildly exercise the legs and arms, thus increasing the circulation.

-They are the best way to burn calories and reduce weight and are often recommended for obesity and depression.

-They are an effective way of loosening up, stretching and massaging all joints and internal organs of the body.

-They stimulate and balance all the systems of the body including the endocrine, circulatory, reproductive and digestive system.

Technique:

1. Stand straight with the palms together as in a prayer position.

2. Inhale and stretch the arms above the head.

3. Exhale and bend forward while touching the toes.

4. Inhale and stretch the right leg away from the body in a big backward step and keep the hands and left foot firmly on the ground. Bending the head backward the left knee should be between the hands.

5. Inhale and hold the breath. Move the left leg from the body and, keeping both feet together and the knees of the floor, rest on the hands (arms straight) and keep the body in a straight line from head to foot.

6. Exhale and lower the body to the floor. In this position, only 8 portions of the body come in contact with the floor: the two feet, two knees, two hands, chest and forehead.

7. Inhale and bend back as much as possible bending the spine to the maximum.

8. Exhale and lift the body of the floor. Keep the feet and heels on the floor.

9. Inhale and bring the right foot along the level of the hands; left foot and knee should touch the ground. Look up, bending the spine slightly (same position as #4)

10. Exhale and bring the left leg forward. Keep the knees straight and bring the head down to the knees as in the third position.

11. Raise the arms overhead and bend backward inhaling. As in Position 2.

12. Exhale and drop the arms and relax.

You have now completed one round.

Perform as many rounds as possible in multiples of 3. Ideally you want to aim for 6 rounds minimum and up to a maximum of 30. It only takes about 5-10 minutes, depending on your speed and intensity and is best practiced with as little clothing as possible before an open air window first thing in the morning.

Okay, we?ve gone over the core pose or combination thereof when using Yoga for weight loss in this part of the series of this article. I?ll go over SPECIFIC poses (asanas) that will target the trouble spots and some breathing exercises that would speed up burning up of calories. But my friends, note, when I say use yoga for weight loss; I mean ALL its limbs: the poses, the prescribed diet for practice and mind-set. If you were doing conventional exercise for weight loss, you?d know to eat a healthier diet right?? Well the same applies to yoga for weight loss as well friends.

See you in part 2 of this article.

Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) affects mainly children of school age, about 3% to 5% of the population. It is also known as Hyperactivity and typically symptoms include the child not being able to sit still, inattention, disruptive behaviour, restlessness, feverish excitement, screaming fits, hysteria, impulsivity, hyperactivity, emotional problems, lack of social skills and learning disabilities. Attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) symptoms can appear before two years of age but usually it is before five years of age. Boys are more affected than girls, 40% of cases of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) are grown out of by puberty but cases do continue into adolescence and adulthood causing problems with concentrating, insomnia and excessive thirst.

To combat the ADHD and hyperactive behaviour, start your child on a diet that is free from aspirin containing foods, artificial food colourings and flavours, preservatives, sugar and salt which can lead to hyperactivities in children. Keep to organic food in the diet and include wholegrain foods, seafood and legumes which are high in zinc. It is also recommended to take zinc as a supplement as children with ADHD tend to be lacking in this mineral. Boys especially need extra zinc around puberty. As well as sugar, omit artificial sweeteners especially aspartame and foods containing them, as these tend to make symptoms worst. Avoid products that contain salicylates such as suntan lotion, certain toothpastes and soap. I would also suggest that the child should drink plenty of bottled mineral water to keep them well hydrated.

During pregnancy, the mother should increase her intake of essential fatty acids (EFAs) of omega-3 and omega-6. Omega-3 fatty acids are found in oily fish such as salmon, trout, herring, mackerel, sardines and pilchards, omega-6 fatty acids are found in plant oils such as seeds, nuts, dark green leafy vegetables and whole grains. The pregnant mother should not smoke during pregnancy and try to avoid exposure to lead and other heavy-metal exposures.

The following supplements may help if your child is suffering from attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).

Essential fatty acids ? Omega 3 and omega 6

Evening primrose oil

Iron (for deficiency only)

L-carnitine

Magnesium

Vitamin B6

Zinc B vitamins
